The Canterbury Choir will be presenting its annual Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 17 at 4:00 pm at the Chapel of Saint John the Divine, 1011 S. Wright Street in Champaign. The service is free and open to the public. After the service, there will be a small reception of Christmas treats.
Advent Carol Services arose in England at King’s College Chapel where it is not possible to celebrate Christmas during term-time. The service consists of a series of nine lessons outlining the prophetic foretelling of the coming of Christ. Interspersed are hymns and carols which reflect upon themes of the season.
