Welcoming Our Neighbors: Dessert Fair to Bring Together Immigrants, Refugees, and Native-Born Residents Wed. Sept. 20, from 12:30 pm-4:00 pm, we’ll be providing a Dessert Fair at the Chapel to welcome new C-U residents from across the globe. Take a break! Stop by when you can to join other University of Illinois students, faculty, friends, and community members for desserts and conversation on the lawn in front of the Chapel. Everyone is welcome.
The Chapel is partnering with the local chapter of Solidarity Sundays, a national social activist group, to organize our Welcoming Week event to celebrate diversity and foster community. Lorraine Crummey is coordinating our participation—with opportunities to help set up or clean up, staff the event, donate for purchases, or provide handheld desserts (cookies, brownies, snacks, dessert breads, etc.) that need no refrigeration so it’s easy for everyone.
