Racial Taboo

To “repent” is literally to turn and go in a different direction. And so, in this Lenten season, we at the Chapel will seek not just to examine our hearts, but to take concrete steps to help us turn around and start anew” with racial reconciliation. At the heart of our effort is an event that features a public showing of a movie called “Racial Taboo,” and honest discussion with others. Racial Taboo events are a tangible means of creating conversation among people of different ethnicities with the express goal of making a positive change in the way that we deal with one another.

And so this Sunday, the Chapel of Saint John the Divine and First Mennonite of CU are sponsoring a showing of the Racial Taboo film and the conversation that follows. Chapel parishioners, students, and members of the C-U community are invited to join us at First Mennonite of CU at the corner of Lincoln and Springfield in Urbana on Sunday, March 4, from 4-6:45 p.m. Previous events held here in C-U have proven to be a very effective way to begin a meaningful conversation about “race.” We invite you to join us!
